Remember your ritual of Saturday morning cartoons? Well, this is better; it will make you fitter, faster, and much more satisfied. There is nothing like a group ride for testing your strengths, for working on your weaknesses, and for learning from more experienced riders.
And there's also something to be said about being part of the peloton. Whether it's the comradery that comes from hours on the saddle, or the safety and security that comes from greater numbers.
This shop-led road ride departs from our
Chestnut Street location on Saturdays at 8:30am.
We are on unless rain or snow is present at the start of—or imminent during—the ride. Also, we do not ride if the temperature dips below freezing—around 30 degrees—with no chance of warming up. Friend us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter to get up-to-the-minute information on the ride's status.
Our full route is 57 miles long. For beginners, there is a turn-off option for a shorter, easier 26 mile route.
Rules of the Road
Show up on time. The ride departs promptly at 8:30am.
Heed the instructions of the ride leaders.
Be conscientious of the other riders.
Stop for red lights and stop signs. Only ride through greens.
Regroup as directed. No surges or attacks.
Know your ability. The pack will average 16-18 mph. Be prepared to ride this pace over varying terrain.
Bring food, hydration, tubes, and inflation.
The group will stop for flats and mechanicals. To limit downtime which impacts everyone on the ride, make sure your bike is in proper working order and that your tires are in good shape.
Call out obstacles in the road as a courtesy to others. Avoid sudden swerves.
Cycling can be dangerous. Ride at your own risk. |
